Café Beignet Throughout New Orleans, LA Review by SuSu, MaceVindaloo
Actually, we ended up feeling most of our beignets to the sparrows which swarmed us when we sat down in this outdoor courtyard. We also tried a praline to go with our chicory coffee. It was pleasantly, though overly, gritty with a burnt caramel flavor and broken pecans in the right proportions. As expected, it was very sweet and went well with the coffee. Not the greatest candy manifestation, nor the greatest coffee, either. The setting is a courtyard, which in New Orleans is the way to deal with the heat of this southern city's summers. There is shade on this open palazzo style place. There are also statues celebrating local Jazz musicians and other kinds of entertainers. At night, this turns into a bar with live jazz playing. But don't come here for the beignets. Not even at Music Legends Park in the French Quarter in 311 Bourbon Street! Disclaimer: The opinions and observations noted are the property of the author.
